seq(1): add more examples, improve wording

fix typos, mainly in words minimum and maximum, but also few others.

Behavior now matches GNU seq (from Aram at tech-userlevel)

seq(1) first appeared in Research Unix 8th Edition, which was before Plan 9.
Generalise in stating that this version is not bug for bug compatible with other
implementations.

Fix valid_format() to be more careful about allowing only valid printf
formats.
