Bump PKGREVISION on packages depending on CUPS This should be the last part of the renaming operation for print/cups to print/cups-base. Rationale: packages depending on CUPS but not relying on a functional printing setup only need to depend on print/cups-base (equivalent to the former print/cups). The new print/cups now depends on print/cups-base and on print/cups-filters, thus directly providing a functional printing setup. This bump reflects this change of dependency. Skip shlibs checks for samba loadable plugins on Darwin.

Fix Samba ability to use LDAP/SSL with a SHA2 certificate NetBSD's libc and Samba both proide SHA2 function with the same protoype, but with different private context structures. The Samba version must not override the libc version, otherwise they are used when using LDAP/SSL, through libldap/libssl/libcrypto but libcrtypo expect to use the libc flavor. Without this fix, Samba cannot connect to a LDAP directory that has a SHA2-signed certificate. o CVE-2015-0240:
All versions of Samba from 3.5.0 to 4.2.0rc4 are vulnerable to an
unexpected code execution vulnerability in the smbd file server
daemon.
A malicious client could send packets that may set up the stack in
such a way that the freeing of memory in a subsequent anonymous
netlogon packet could allow execution of arbitrary code. This code
would execute with root privileges.
o CVE-2014-0178:
In preparing a response to an authenticated FSCTL_GET_SHADOW_COPY_DATA
or FSCTL_SRV_ENUMERATE_SNAPSHOTS client request, affected versions of
Samba do not initialize 8 bytes of the 16 byte SRV_SNAPSHOT_ARRAY
response field. The uninitialized buffer is sent back to the client.
A non-default VFS module providing the get_shadow_copy_data_fn() hook
must be explicitly enabled for Samba to process the aforementioned
client requests. Therefore, only configurations with "shadow_copy" or
"shadow_copy2" specified for the "vfs objects" parameter are vulnerable.

This is a security release in order to address
CVE-2014-0244 (Denial of service - CPU loop) and
CVE-2014-3493 (Denial of service - Server crash/memory corruption).
o CVE-2014-0244:
All current released versions of Samba are vulnerable to a denial of
service on the nmbd NetBIOS name services daemon. A malformed packet
can cause the nmbd server to loop the CPU and prevent any further
NetBIOS name service.
This flaw is not exploitable beyond causing the code to loop expending
CPU resources.
o CVE-2014-3493:
All current released versions of Samba are affected by a denial of service
crash involving overwriting memory on an authenticated connection to the
smbd file server.

This is a security release in order to address
CVE-2013-4124 (Missing integer wrap protection in EA list reading can cause
server to loop with DOS).
o CVE-2013-4124:
All current released versions of Samba are vulnerable to a denial of
service on an authenticated or guest connection. A malformed packet
can cause the smbd server to loop the CPU performing memory
allocations and preventing any further service.
A connection to a file share, or a local account is needed to exploit
this problem, either authenticated or unauthenticated if guest
connections are allowed.
This flaw is not exploitable beyond causing the code to loop
allocating memory, which may cause the machine to exceed memory
limits.

This is a security release in order to address

All current released versions of Samba are vulnerable to clickjacking in the
Samba Web Administration Tool (SWAT). When the SWAT pages are integrated into
a malicious web page via a frame or iframe and then overlaid by other content,
an attacker could trick an administrator to potentially change Samba settings.
In order to be vulnerable, SWAT must have been installed and enabled
either as a standalone server launched from inetd or xinetd, or as a
CGI plugin to Apache. If SWAT has not been installed or enabled (which
is the default install state for Samba) this advisory can be ignored.

NSS winbind option install script fixes:
1) Move the INSTALL_TEMPLATES line to the 'winbind' option section.
2) Enable the install script on all platforms.
3) Use the value of ${NSS_WINBIND} in the script as the name of the
library (should work on all platforms).
4) In the install script only create the symlink if ${NSS_WINBIND} doesn't
start with '@comment' (i.e. no nss winbind on this platform) and the
target file exists and the symlink _doesn't_ already exist.
5) Create a DEINSTALL_TEMPLATES to remove the nss winbind symlink if it
exists and point to the correct target.

nss module install fix-ups.
1) Correct the path to the nsswitch directory in the samba-nss-winbind-install
and samba-nss-wins-install targets so they work again.

In all versions of Samba later than 3.0.11, connecting to the home
share of a user will use the root of the filesystem
as the home directory if this user is misconfigured to have
an empty home directory in /etc/passwd.
o CVE-2009-2948:
If mount.cifs is installed as a setuid program, a user can pass it a
credential or password path to which he or she does not have access and
then use the --verbose option to view the first line of that file.
o CVE-2009-2906:
Specially crafted SMB requests on authenticated SMB connections can
send smbd into a 100% CPU loop, causing a DoS on the Samba server.

Update samba to version 3.0.28a.

Makefile:
+ Modify section that manually handles the ELF symlinks for samba
shared libraries -- add additional libraries that are built (addns,
smbsharemodes) and reorganize so we don't need two loops where one
will do.
+ Pass --with-included-popt to the configure script to force using
the popt distribution included with samba to avoid any library
mismatch errors between samba and any installed popt. This fixes
PR pkg/34444 by Jason Lingohr.
+ Don't build the smbmount programs on Linux -- they're deprecated in
favor of the mount.cifs programs.
+ Remove some pkgviews-related settings -- I'm not supporting pkgviews
installation of samba.
Makefile.patches:
+ Empty out PATCHFILES because we are updating to the latest release
of samba, which has all previous patches for security advisories
already rolled into the main sources.
Makefile.mirrors:
+ Update SAMBA_MIRRORS in Makefile.mirrors to the latest list of FTP
mirrors.
options.mk:
+ Only show the ``acl'' option on platforms that actually support
POSIX ACLs.
+ Add a new ``fam'' option to enable building the notify_fam VFS
module.
patch-ab, patch-ax:
+ Remove patch-ab and update patch-ax -- there's nothing for the
scripts to back up so we don't need to patch the install* scripts
to avoid this.
patch-ae, patch-ah:
+ Update patch-ae and remove patch-ah -- we should definitely check
that PAM_AUTHTOK_RECOVERY_ERR is defined before using its value to
define PAM_AUTHTOK_RECOVER_ERR.
patch-at, patch-au:
+ Fix patch-at and patch-au -- in configure.in, we need to "escape"
left and right brackets or else m4 will strip them away in the
resulting configure script. This should fix the detection of FreeBSD
and NetBSD systems capable of using nss_winbind noted in PR pkg/38076
by Ingo Meyer.
patch-ay:
+ Remove some unnecessary changes -- we can safely just do "mkdir" in
some places because we know the parent and any intermediate directories
exist.
patch-be:
+ Fix a bug in locating WINS_LIST -- nmbd/nmbd_winsserver.c was
referring to WINS_LIST under the state directory in one place and
under the lock directory in another; change all references to be
under the state directory.
patch-db:
+ Add patch to fix the build of samba on older BSDs. Patch supplied
in PR pkg/37487 by John Frear.
All remaining changes to patches/patch-* are simply to remove fuzz.

Don't use .for with on-demand expanded variables that depend on an
extracted source tree. That expands them at parse time, and without the
source tree, causes all kinds of headaches in bmake, e.g.

Fixed the install stage so that it is more likely to pass the files-check: No backup copies of the Samba binaries are made. Before using ln -s, the destination file is removed. This is necessary for installing the package over an already-installed version.

This fixes PRs pkg/31352 and pkg/31991. Important changes that were
made as part of porting this Samba release to pkgsrc include the
following:
* The new release model for Samba includes distributing patches for
urgent bug fixes that will be included in the next release of Samba,
and are available at http://www.samba.org/samba/patches/. Since
these patches are rather generically named, we download all DISTFILES
and PATCHFILES for Samba into a ${DISTNAME}-specific directory.
* The default configuration for the samba package no longer builds the
"winbind" portions of samba, which are really only useful when
attempting to unify logons between Unix and Microsoft Windows. When
the "winbind" option is specified, we also build the RID and AD idmap
backends, which allow sharing UIDs/GIDs across Unix machines.
* New package options have been added to the build: "mysql", "pgsql",
and "xml" allow adding optional support for experimental passdb
storage backends, and "winbind" allows for optionally building the
winbindd daemon and associated plugins.
* Two new smb.conf options were added -- "passwd expand gecos" and
"state directory". The first describes whether "&" in the GECOS
field of a passwd db entry is expanded to the login name. The
second describes the location where the persistent-state database
files are stored.
* Luke Mewburn contributed code to allow nss_winbind.so to work properly
on supported NetBSD systems. The FreeBSD NSS winbind code should
probably be replaced with a suitably tweaked version of the NetBSD
code since the latter is much more complete in the functions that are
provided, but I'll leave that to freebsd-pkg-people.
* Samba dumps all of its files into "lock directory", but some of them
need to persist across reboots. We make a distinction between these
files and the temporary files that are re-created by the Samba
daemons when they are restarted -- the former are now stored in a
"state directory" and the latter are stored in the "lock directory".
This is modeled after the Debian patch to Samba located in:
packaging/Debian/debian-unstable/patches/fhs.patch
The "lock directory" default has been moved to ${VARBASE}/run/samba
to emphasize the temporary status of the files stored in that
directory.
* Samba persists in using PAM_AUTHTOK_RECOVER_ERR, when there is almost
universal agreement that PAM_AUTHTOK_RECOVERY_ERR is the right
constant to use. Even the Linux-PAM distribution ensures that
PAM_AUTHTOK_RECOVERY_ERR is correctly defined. To work around this,
we define PAM_AUTHTOK_RECOVER_ERR appropriately in all the places
where it is used.
* The configure script checks for OpenSSL's libcrypto.so by looking
for the symbol "des_set_key". However, libcrypto.so might not
contain that symbol because the DES functions might come from a
separate library, e.g. libdes.so. In this case, the configure script
will think that libcrypto.so is not available, when it actually may
be. Instead, look for EVP_des_cbc, which is always provided by
libcrypto.so.
* Add some missing $(PASSDB_LIBS) references to the Makefile to fix
compilation problems if the experimental passdb backends are statically
compiled into the Samba suite programs.
* Fix compilation problems in sam/idmap_rid.c and sam/idmap_ad.c if the
"rid" and "ad" idmap backends are statically compiled into winbindd.

o New user right (SeTakeOwnershipPrivilege) added.
o New "net share migrate" options.

adduser and deluser scripts into ${PKG_SYSCONFDIR} that are capable of

inclusive. This is a serious problem and all sites should either
upgrade to Samba 2.2.8 immediately or prohibit access to TCP ports 139
and 445. Advice created by Andrew Tridgell, the leader of the Samba
Team, on how to protect an unpatched Samba server is given at the end
of this section.
The SMB/CIFS protocol implemented by Samba is vulnerable to many
attacks, even without specific security holes. The TCP ports 139 and
the new port 445 (used by Win2k and the Samba 3.0 alpha code in
particular) should never be exposed to untrusted networks.

Updated samba to 2.2.7
A security hole has been discovered in versions 2.2.2 through 2.2.6
of Samba that could potentially allow an attacker to gain root access
on the target machine. The word "potentially" is used because there
is no known exploit of this bug, and the Samba Team has not been able to
craft one ourselves. However, the seriousness of the problem warrants
this immediate 2.2.7 release.
1) ensure we send the notify message in the same way it is expected
to be received by srv_spoolss_receive_message().
2) attribute matching on truncate only matters when opening truncate
with current SYSTEM|HIDDEN -> NONE. It's fine to truncate on open
with current NONE -> SYSTEM | HIDDEN.
3) Fix bug in rpcclient's deldriver command
4) Don't set global_machine_password_needs_changing if
lp_machine_password_timeout() is set to zero
5) don't parse the BUFFER5 if the buffer length is zero

Update net/samba to version 2.2.5. The quick summary of changes from
version 2.2.4nb1 is that there are the usual minor bug fixes, plus some
important ones:
* fix printing with Win2K/XP clients
* fixes related to using LDAP for the SAM
* fixes related to changing passwords
Pkgsrc changes:
* Fetch the .tar.bz2 file -- it's smaller.
* Use smb.conf.default as the sample config file and get rid of
the homegrown files/smb.conf.sample. smb.conf.default is more
informative and is a better resource.
* Remove irrelevant examples.
* Move convert_smbpasswd script to the examples/samba/misc
directory. It's pretty much outlived it's usefulness at this
point of the Samba release cycle.

Known Bugs
----------
* Under certain conditions when serving the MS Access 2000
executable file and an Access database from a Samba share,
it is possible to experience data corruption. This pug does
does occur when the database is served from a Samba file share
but the Access *.exe is stored on the client's local file system.
The exact reason for this bug is unknown at this time.

update samba package to 2.2.3.1 (samba 2.2.3a). Change from 2.2.3 ----------------- This is a minor bugfix release for the 2.2.3 release. The 2.2.3 release had a problem that was visible to Windows 2000 Explorer users in that copying files into a share that already existed failed with "Access Denied" rather than asking the user if an overwrite was required. This was due to an incorrect error mapping between the UNIX EEXIST error code and the NT status error. As Windows Explorer is a highly visible end user application a quick bugfix release was required, hence 2.2.3a. Compilation on HPUX versions earlier than HPUX 11 has also been corrected. The cvs.log file is no longer included with this release, as it adds 13Mb to the size of the release, and is easily available on the Web.

Modify the package so that the message is only displayed if SAMBA_USE_LDAP is not defined, as that is the only time when the smbpasswd file is consulted. Also don't create a the smbpasswd file from /etc/passwd, as that generates a lot of bad users, e.g. root, daemon, operator, etc. Instead, just create an empty smbpasswd file and rely on the admin to add approved users to the smbpasswd file using "smbpasswd -a".

Since print/cups conflicts with another popular print package, print/lprng, we make a new variable USE_CUPS that is used by packages to determine whether depend on print/cups and to compile in support for CUPS. USE_CUPS may be either "YES" or undefined. Deprecate SAMBA_WITH_CUPS as its purpose is superseded by USE_CUPS. Convert net/samba and net/samba20 to use USE_CUPS and make x11/kdelibs2 respect USE_CUPS.

This value may be customized in various ways:
PKG_SYSCONFBASE is the main config directory under which all package
configuration files are to be found.
PKG_SYSCONFSUBDIR is the subdirectory of PKG_SYSCONFBASE under which the
configuration files for a particular package may be found.
PKG_SYSCONFDIR.${PKGBASE} overrides the value of ${PKG_SYSCONFDIR} for a
particular package.
Users will typically want to set PKG_SYSCONFBASE to /etc, or accept the
default location of ${PREFIX}/etc.
This obsoletes the use of CONFDIR, which was active for only 6 days, so no
need to have a workaround to still accept old CONFDIR settings.

This is the latest stable release of Samba. This is the version that all
production Samba servers should be running for all current bug-fixes.
This is a minor bugfix release for 2.2.1, *NOT* security related.
1). 2.2.1 had a bug where using smbpasswd -m to add a Windows NT or
Windows2000 machine into a Samba hosted PDC would fail due to our
stricter user name checking. We were disallowing user names
containing '$', which is needed when using smbpasswd to add a
machine into a domain. Automatically adding machines (using the
native Windows tools) into a Samba domain worked correctly.
2.2.1a fixes this single problem.

When Samba is configured to use PAM, turns on or off Samba checking
the PAM account restrictions. Defaults to off.

New option to allow new Windows 2000 large file (64k) streaming
read/write options. Needs a 64 bit underlying operating system
(for Linux use kernel 2.4 with glibc 2.2 or above). Can improve performance
by 10% with Windows 2000 clients. Defaults to off. Not as tested
as some other Samba code paths.
hide unreadable
Prevents clients from seeing the existance of files that cannot
be read. Off by default.
enhanced browsing
Turn on/off the enhanced Samba browing functionality (*1B names).
Default is "on". Can prevent eternal machines in workgroups when
WINS servers are not synchronised.

Summary
-------
A serious security hole has been discovered in all versions of Samba
that allows an attacker to gain root access on the target machine for
certain types of common Samba configuration.
The immediate fix is to edit your smb.conf configuration file and
remove all occurances of the macro "%m". Replacing occurances of %m
with %I is probably the best solution for most sites.
Details
-------
A remote attacker can use a netbios name containing unix path
characters which will then be substituted into the %m macro wherever
it occurs in smb.conf. This can be used to cause Samba to create a log
file on top of an important system file, which in turn can be used to
compromise security on the server.
The most commonly used configuration option that can be vulnerable to
this attack is the "log file" option. The default value for this
option is VARDIR/log.smbd. If the default is used then Samba is not
vulnerable to this attack.
The security hole occurs when a log file option like the following is
used:
log file = /var/log/samba/%m.log
In that case the attacker can use a locally created symbolic link to
overwrite any file on the system. This requires local access to the
server.
If your Samba configuration has something like the following:
log file = /var/log/samba/%m
Then the attacker could successfully compromise your server remotely
as no symbolic link is required. This type of configuration is very
rare.
The most commonly used log file configuration containing %m is the
distributed in the sample configuration file that comes with Samba:
log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m
in that case your machine is not vulnerable to this attack unless you
happen to have a subdirectory in /var/log/samba/ which starts with the
prefix "log."

Update "samba" package to version 2.0.8: Samba 2.0.8 is a security bugfix release. Previous versions of Samba had a bug with the handling of temporary files that allows local users to destroy data on local devices. This bug was discovered during a routine security audit by Caldera. While no exploitation of this bug is known to have occurred it is fairly easy to exploit so sites with untrusted local users should take the threat seriously. Unfortunately we lose japanese language support by this update.

New/Changed parameters in 2.0.7 ------------------------------- There are 5 new parameters in the smb.conf file. utmp utmp dir utmp hostname utmp consolidate wtmp directory These parameters are only available if the "--with-utmp" option was selected at configure time. The yes/no option "utmp" specifies whether utmp records should be recorded on user logon/logoff. It defaults to "no". The "utmp dir" and "wtmp dir" are string parameters specifying pathnames to the directories containing the utmp/wtmp file databases. See the smb.conf man page for more details. inherit permissions This boolean parameter causes newly created files and directories to inherit their initial permissions from their parent directory. This can be very useful in propagating such things as the set-group bit in directory heirarchies. See the smb.conf man page for more details. write cache size This integer parameter specifies (in bytes) the size of a user level per-file write cache that smbd will create for an oplocked file. This can improve performance significantly for writing files by causing writes to be done in large chunk sizes. If this parameter is set (it defaults to zero which means no write cache) to the stripe size of a raid volume then it will cause writes to be much more efficient. Up to 10 write caches can be active simultaneously per smbd (allocated for the first 10 oplocked file opens). All normal warnings about the dangers of user level caching of data apply. See the smb.conf man page for more details. source environment This pathname parameter causes Samba to read a list of environment variables from a named file on startup. This can be useful in setting up Samba in a clustered environment. See the smb.conf man page for more details. Ability to delete users added ----------------------------- SWAT and smbpasswd can now delete users from the Samba smbpasswd file. See the man page for smbpasswd for details. Roving profile behavior finalized --------------------------------- The change in behavior with roving profiles (using the "logon home" parameter instead of the "logon path" parameter) introduced in 2.0.6 has been discovered to be consistant with the way Windows NT behaves, and has been left as the default action.
